The Garmin Fenix 5 Plus is cheaper than ever

Perhaps the best sports watch money can buy is now available for much less

As part of Amazon’s mega Spring Sale, the online retailer has slashed the price of the Garmin Fenix 5 Plus sports watch from £600 to an all-time low of just £430.

Our original five-star review, despite heaping praise on the fantastic Fenix 5 Plus, acknowledged that the watch’s steep price might discourage potential customers from investing in it. After all, it is usually over £100 more expensive than rivals such as the Polar Vantage V (£439) and Suunto 9 (£499).

For now, at least, the discounted price of the Fenix 5 Plus on Amazon not only competes with those watches, but even undercuts them. But, what will you be getting for that money?

The beauty of the Fenix 5 Plus is that it competes with the likes of the Vantage V and Suunto 9 in terms of fitness tracking, but also with the Apple Watch Series 4 (£399) and the Samsung Galaxy Watch (£299) in terms of smart features. Not many smartwatches can currently boast that claim.

In terms of fitness tracking capabilities, it features full-colour maps and the ability to route directly from your wrist, as well as including an optical heart rate monitor and an altimeter so you can measure steps climbed. It’s also waterproof to 10ATM (100m).

It can also be used for contactless payments, stores your music library and displays notifications from your phone. Nick’s original review states that despite being a fitness-based wearable “it’s really something you’ll want to wear all the time”.

If you want to make the most of this deal, you’d better be quick. The Garmin Fenix 5 Plus is on sale from Amazon until midnight on Monday 8 April. It usually retails for about £550, so you’d better move quick, or risk forking out an extra £120 for your new fitness tracker.
