How to watch Super Bowl 2020: Live stream 49ers vs Chiefs online for free

The San Francisco 49ers take on the Kansas City Chiefs at Super Bowl LIV on Sunday. Here’s how to watch it for free anywhere in the world

Super Bowl LIV takes place on Sunday, 2 February 2020, when the Kansas City Chiefs – led by promising young quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and their sublime passing – face the dogged defence of the San Francisco 49ers, who are led by their own star QB, Jimmy Grappolo.

The 100th edition of the Super Bowl will take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, which is hosting its first Super Bowl in a decade. The stadium has recently been renovated adding a luxurious seating and state-of-the-art video boards throughout the arena.

Earlier this week, the sporting fraternity in the US, and all over the world, was rocked by the sudden death of five-time NBA champion, Kobe Bryant. Expect a tribute of some sort to be played to the Los Angeles Lakers basketball great during the Super Bowl LIV on Sunday.

The Super Bowl is one of the biggest sporting events in the world and it will be broadcast live all over the world. Luckily those living in the UK will be able to watch the Super Bowl for free. You can also do this if you’re living abroad. Read on to find out how.

Super Bowl LIV: Teams and Kickoff times

Super Bowl LIV will be contested between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs. This will be the first teams that the teams have faced each other in pursuit of the highly-coveted Vince Lombardi trophy presented to the Super Bowl winner.

Kickoff between the two teams is scheduled to take place at 6:30pm ET, on Sunday, 2 February, live from the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. This means that UK viewers will need to stay up late because the game starts at 11:30pm on Sunday, 2 February, GMT.

The San Francisco 49ers defeated Aaron Rodgers’ Green Bay Packers 37-20 in the NFC Conference Championships to advance to the Super Bowl. Meanwhile, the Chiefs won the AFC Conference Championships by defeating the Tennesse Titans 35-24 to progress to the Super Bowl.

The 49ers lead the all-time regular-season series 7-6, but given the teams did not face off against each other in the 2019 NFL season, it could be anyone’s game even though the Chiefs start as slight favourites going into Sunday’s marquee game.

While the 49ers last won the Super Bowl in 1995 and were on the losing side in 2013 under Colin Kaepernick, it has been a 50-year wait for the Kansas City Chiefs who last featured – and won – the Super Bowl in 1970.

People who don’t follow the NFL as much, might be pondering the absence of the New England Patriots, who have dominated the Super Bowl for the last two decades, behind their star quarterback Tom Brady. The Patriots haven’t had the best season this year, leaving many to question the future of the 42-year-old Brady.

Who’s performing at the Super Bowl half-time show

Apart from the all-important grand finale, the Super Bowl is known for many other things, including its famous halftime show. The performers the Super Bowl LIV halftime show are Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, two of the world’s biggest pop stars, albeit a little past their prime.

Given that Super Bowl 2020 is taking place in Miami, it’s not an understatement to say that these two versatile performers will put on a great show, given they both have deep Latin roots and are known for their vivacious performances. Previous Super Bowl performers in recent years have included Coldplay, Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.

Apart from the halftime show and NFL showdown, another thing the Super Bowl has become famous for are its ads that are broadcast throughout the show.
