The beautiful Huawei MateBook X is £300 off

Huawei’s MacBook wannabe is a steal at this price

If you read our Huawei MateBook X review, you’ll know it’s a beautiful machine that’ll be sure to attract envious glances from all and sundry. We reviewed it at £1,206 though (a Euro conversion), and at that price, we couldn’t quite justify giving it the full five-star recommendation.

But you can now get it cheaper. AO.com has it listed for £1,099, but the company is also giving £200 cashback when you buy, taking the total to a very tempting £899.

The company says it will email you a claim form once the device has been delivered. If you fill it in within 21 days, AO will then transfer £200 back into your account.

So, what do you get for your money? A 13in ultraportable laptop packing an Intel Core i5-7200U processor, 4GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage. What’s most impressive about it, though, is its design. It’s just 12.5mm thin, with bezels that measure just 4.4mm on either side of the screen. It tips the scales at a fraction over 1kg, and manages to bundle in Dolby Atmos-powered speakers, too.

As head of reviews, Jonathan Bray, said in his review, it’s a brilliant machine that you can’t help but love. “It’s almost as thin and light as the Apple MacBook, yet boasts a larger 13in display and a more powerful processor. Battery life is excellent, the screen is sumptuous, the ergonomics spot on and the speakers are incredible.”

Yes, it can get rather hot thanks to its fanless design, and you may find that 4GB of RAM makes some Windows tasks a bit of a chore, but this is designed for portability, not power. At over £1,200, this may have been a stretch, but with £300 off it’s a very tempting proposition indeed.
