Being an SSD, though, it boots Windows incredibly quickly, and PC Specialist will upgrade it to a 240GB model for around another £80. You could also save £15 and go with a 500GB mechanical model, or store your operating system on the SSD and use a large external hard disk for your files; the laptop has two USB3 ports.

The Inferno V-3K’s battery life was impressive for such a small and powerful laptop. It managed 5 hours and 11 minutes in our light-use battery test, and even though gaming will drain the battery far more quickly, if you stick to productivity tasks you’ll get through a good chunk of the working day on a charge.

The Inferno V-3K has all the right components to make it a formidable gaming laptop, especially for those who like to take their games with them. Its thick and hard-edged keyboard tray may not make it ideal for working on for long periods of time, but you won’t find more power and portability for £630.
