Acer Aspire V5-571P Touch review

That pretty much sums up the improvements. Its keyboard is exactly the same as the non-touch model, but it’s still as good to use. Its Chiclet-style keys are all sensibly spaced and provide plenty of tactile feedback, and its LED backlight helps illuminate them in low light conditions.

Unfortunately, we continued to have a few problems with its all-in-one touchpad. It responded well to clicks and multitouch gestures, but its overall accuracy wasn’t quite up to scratch. We unintentionally dragged files to different folders too often and highlighted sections of our MS Word documents by accident, but at least the touchscreen now offers a viable alternative for completing these kinds of everyday tasks.

Its range of connections is also the same as the non-touch V5-571, with one USB3 and two USB2 ports, VGA and HDMI ports, and an SD/MMC card reader. It also has a slim optical drive, and comes with a Gigabit Ethernet adaptor.

The V5 Touch is a vast improvement on the original model. It still isn’t perfect, but if you want a cheap touchscreen laptop and your budget doesn’t quite stretch to £700 for the superior Asus VivoBook S400, or even to £650 for the equally powerful Toshiba Satellite P845t-101 then this the Acer Aspire V5-571P Touch is the next best thing.
