Scan 3XS LG15 Carbon G-Sync review: A gaming monster

A comfortable keyboard is a must-have for a proper gaming laptop. The Carbon G-Sync’s isn’t the prettiest, but its keys do offer plenty of tactile feedback and bounce. Each key is individually backlit, too, making it ideal for those gaming sessions that last through the night.

The touchpad is a little finicky, though, mistaking cursor swipes around the screen for individual taps. It’s reasonably responsive for the most part, but you’ll probably want to plug in a mouse for maximum efficiency. 

Ports and connections

The Carbon G-Sync isn’t lacking in its supply of connection ports. With four USB 3 ports, two USB Type-C ports, two DisplayPorts and an HDMI 2 output, it’s pretty much future-proofed with far more on offer here than with the likes of the Aorus X7 Pro or the Asus ROG G752.

There’s also an SD card reader, a Gigabit Ethernet port and separate microphone and headphone jacks, too. You’ll need to make good use of the Carbon G-Sync’s audio ports, though, because its integrated speakers lack any proper bassy punch and are incredibly tinny at high levels.

Verdict

Scan has done a phenomenal job with its Carbon G-Sync laptop. It’s the fastest laptop I’ve ever tested, trumping any Asus, Gigabyte or Aorus laptop that’s come through our doors. Despite some niggles with build quality and an uninspiring display, Scan’s 3XS Carbon G-Sync gaming laptop is a no-brainer if you’re in the market for an absolute powerhouse of a laptop.
