How to watch the Premier League for free on Amazon Prime
Amazon Prime will now broadcast all 10 Premier League fixtures that take place on 26 and 27 December in the UK
Earlier this year, Amazon Prime Video obtained the exclusive rights to broadcast 20 Premier League games in the ongoing 2019/2020 season. The service broadcasted all 10 Premier League games that took place in the first week of December. The remaining 10 Premier League fixtures will be broadcast on December 26 and 27.
As Amazon points out, the first week of December was the first time that every match on a day has been given equal billing and broadcast simultaneously in the UK. You can watch live streams of multiple Premier League games at the same time on different devices – similar to how the service broadcasted coverage of the US Open. Games can be streamed live via Amazon Prime using any smart device, including phones, tablets, games consoles, the Fire TV Stick, select Smart TVs and more.
The main fixtures on Boxing Day are Manchester United vs Newcastle United at 5:30pm. This game is important because The Red Devils are slowing finding their groove in the Premier League and Newcastle defeated them in their last Premier League encounter earlier in October. Another crucial fixture is between the top two Premier League teams when Liverpool face Leicester City at 8pm.
Amazon’s owner Jeff Bezos has previously said that the reason it invests so heavily in hardware (with its Amazon Echo range for instance) and on original Prime Video content is to push Amazon Prime subscriptions. This, in turn, encourages more people to buy products from his vast store and help recoup these investments. It’s no surprise, then, that the fixtures Amazon has bought the rights to fall within a key shopping period – the run-up to Christmas and the Boxing Day sales.
