Who doesn’t love a good gritty drama? Amazon exclusive Sneaky Pete has received high praise for these exact qualities, and although it won’t be coming back for a fourth season, the show remains one of Amazon’s best – and well worth a watch.
Starring Giovanni Ribisi (Saving Private Ryan, Friends), Sneaky Pete revolves around a recently released prisoner who assumes the identity of a cellmate as a ploy to escape a vicious gangster. Posing as the eponymous Pete Murphy, the prisoner “reunites” with his cellmate’s estranged family, who have no reason to suspect that he is not who he claims to be.
Unaware of the family secrets and relational disputes festering within his new family, however, the protagonist finds himself caught in the same dangerous world he was trying to avoid.
Ribisi plays Marius Josipović, the former prisoner and central focus of the show. Michael Drayer (Mr. Robot) plays Marius’ brother Eddie. Other famous faces include Margo Martindale, Marin Ireland, Peter Gerety, Libe Barer, and Shane McRae. Sneaky Pete is co-created by Breaking Bad and Malcolm in the Middle star Bryan Cranston, who stars as crooked former cop Vince Lonigan. If that doesn’t sell you on it, I don’t know what will.
