Amazon Echo Show 5 receives HUGE price drop in Black Friday sales

With Black Friday kicking off nice and early (as it does every year), Amazon has predictably dropped the price of its Alexa-enabled Echo smart speakers for a limited time. That long list includes the Echo Show 5, which has just plummeted to its lowest-ever price.
Amazon’s cheapest Echo smart screen, the Echo 5 is cheaper than ever, and can currently be picked up for just £40. The last time it dropped in price this much was in October this year, and even then it only fell to £45 – a saving that isn’t quite as good as this recent 47% discount. This deal applies to all three colours: Charcoal, Deep Sea Blue and Glacier White.
What do you get for your money, then? Into its compact, alarm-clock sized body, Amazon has squeezed a bright and clear 5.5in touchscreen, a surprisingly powerful speaker system, a twin far-field microphone array and 2MP camera for video calls. And, as with any other Amazon Echo speaker, you can control it with just your voice via Amazon’s digital assistant, Alexa.
In our review, Jonathan Bray praised the Echo Show 5 for bringing all of Alexa’s features and capabilities to a cheaper (and smaller) package, while adding useful features such as a privacy shield slider on the front-facing camera. For your money, there’s really no better smart display at the moment.
However, If the Echo Show 5’s limited size and feature list isn’t quite what you’re looking for, then the good news is that Amazon has also discounted the more expensive Echo Show 8 as well. Now going for £80 (down from £120), the Echo Show 8 adds a larger screen, higher-resolution 13MP camera and improved sound quality. Sadly, the top-end Echo Show 10 is still its usual price (£240).
