LG C1: The best TV is now best ever price in Black Friday deal

lg c1 oled tv black friday deal

The year's best TV is now at its best ever price — Black Friday deals on all screen sizes of the LG C1 OLED TV

LG’s C1 OLED may be the best TV we’ve ever reviewed. We named this outstanding HDR 4K OLED our TV of the Year 2021, giving its five stars and calling it “an impressive all-rounder that is sure to delight TV addicts, movie fans and avid gamers alike”. We also called it “competitively priced”. Well, get this: that price has dropped by a THIRD.

In one of our favourite Black Friday deals yet, Amazon has slashed the 48in entry-level model’s price from £1,299 to £979 (£320 off), and the 55in from £1,700 to just £1,185. That saves you a whopping £515 (!) and buys you the best telly you’ve ever owned. But this deal won’t last long, so you’re going to have to act fast.

And what if 55in is just a little too, well, little for your tastes? LG is planning to launch a 86in model soon, so all the existing sizes – including an already rather sizeable 77in – are up for grabs at bargain prices. Amazon and John Lewis are both offering savings on all four of the LG C1’s screen sizes, with hundreds of pounds off each.

Amazon’s got the 65in for £1,699 (£200 off) and the 77in for £3,298 (£201 off). John Lewis’s prices are in line with Amazon’s. The 48in gets the biggest cut, down to £999; the 55in to £1,199; the 65in to £1,699 and the 77in to £3,299 (£200 off).

Why are we so in love with the LG C1? Let’s try to whittle our rave five-star review down to size.

LG’s OLED lineup dominates the mid-range 4K OLED smart TV market, thanks to fabulous minimalist good looks, superb image accuracy and, even at normal prices, great value for money. There’s also support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, a host of gaming features, and an upgraded version of LG’s intuitive webOS smart platform.

More key stats: the LG C1 is a 4K (3,840 x 2,160) HDR TV, and features LG’s advanced Alpha 9 Gen 4 processor – normally only found in far more expensive TVs. The C1 supports HDR10 and HLG, as well as all major content streaming platforms including Freeview Play, which was missing from LG’s TVs in 2020.

Inputs are all round the back, and include four HDMI 2.1 ports that support HDR, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), 4K at 120Hz, and eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel). There are also terrestrial and satellite tuners, a 3.5mm audio output, an optical digital output, an Ethernet port, three USB ports (two 2.0 and one 3.0) and a CI (common interface) slot. Then there’s built-in dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and support for Apple AirPlay 2.

The TV looks gorgeous, whatever size you go for. Its virtually bezel-free screen and sloping brushed-metal stand help give it an unfussy, handsome look. Even the new, improved LG Magic Remote looks the business, with an elegant, comfortable shape and outstandingly good onscreen cursor – something we wish all remotes had (especially when trying to search for content on streaming services!)

Or if we’ve convinced you and you don’t want to miss out, head over to Amazon or John Lewis right now to grab the best TV bargain we’ve seen all year.
