One of our favourite cheap TVs has fallen below £300 ahead of Black Friday

Thanks to a Black Friday price drop and a generous discount code, you can now snag the TCL RP620K for an outrageously low price

You can grab yourself a new TV for reasonable money at any time of the year, but taking advantage of a Black Friday TV deal is the best way to pick up a television on the cheap.

Black Friday brings with it big discounts across a whole range of premium products, with TVs, laptops and more seeing hundreds of pounds shaved off their usual prices. While this early Black Friday TV deal on the TCL RP620K won’t save you quite that much, it’s one of the best bargains we’ve seen in the lead-up to the big day.

Already one of our favourite budget TVs, the 55in TCL RP620K is currently available for £299 at Currys. It received four stars and a Recommended award when we reviewed it at £450 last year and has since fallen in price to £400. Currys has now knocked a further £51 off that figure, bringing it down to a very competitive £349. But by using the code VISION50OFF at checkout, you’ll receive a further £50 off this budget 4K television, meaning you can pick it up for just £299.

That’s an exceptional price for a 55in 4K HDR TV boasting the credentials the TCL RP620K does. Its biggest draw is the use of the Roku TV operating system, which is both visually straightforward and simple to use. Roku OS also has some of the best app support of any any operating system, allowing you to access a comprehensive list of video and streaming services, including Disney Plus, Netflix, Prime Video, NOW, Apple TV+, BT Sport, Freeview Play and YouTube.

The RP620K also offers seamless integration with digital assistants such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, as well as smart-connection services like Apple HomeKit and Apple AirPlay. Unlike many budget TVs, the TCL’s solid processor helps ensure its interface and smart features run without any noticeable sluggishness or chugging.

While the TV itself is a tad clunky aesthetically, it packs in just about everything you could want from a budget set. There are four HDMI 2.0 ports, a USB-A input, an optical digital output, composite video input, headphone output, as well as an ethernet port. The TV’s speakers and remote, while nothing to write home about, function perfectly well for everyday use.

Last, but by no means least, the TV’s LCD LED panel delivers solid SDR images, with colours reproduced sharply and with a decent amount of vibrance. Its HDR performance is less impressive, but that’s to be expected given it’s an affordable TV that can’t hit the same levels of brightness as more expensive options. It does, however, support the Dolby Vision HDR format in addition to HLG and HDR10, which is a welcome bonus, and, if you’re willing to tweak the picture settings, you can create workable setups no matter the lighting conditions in your room.
