An astonishingly good Black Friday deal on the Google Pixel 6a
Over at Vodafone you can get the Google Pixel 6a for a mere £259 – a stonkingly good deal on the smartphone. This Black Friday, you can save £100 on the 128GB model, which costs just £249 plus the cost of any bundle. The cheapest bundle up for grabs is the 30-day 21GB data plan for just £10/mth. What’s more, it’s contract-less and commitment-free; your data bundles only last 30 days, so the minimum extra you’ll need to spend is £10. All-in-all, that’s a Google Pixel 6a and month-long data plan for £259 total – a remarkably cheap deal. In fact, the second best deal we’ve seen out there is on Amazon, for a considerably higher £297.
As ever, don’t be lured in by a bargainous price alone. The Google Pixel 6a is a laudable phone in its own right: like its flagship counterparts, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, it’s driven by Google’s Tensor chipset, offering powerful, speedy performance. So far, so promising.
As for display, the Pixel 6a sports a 6.1in, 1080p, 60HZ HDR OLED display, fortified with a protective coating of Gorilla Glass 3 and kitted out with an under-screen fingerprint reader (although note the lack of face unlock). In our four-star full-length Pixel 6a review, we were particularly impressed with the colour-accurate screen, which belied its modest price.
An impressive camera setup rounds the Pixel 6a off: there’s a primary 12.2MP camera and a 12MP wide-angle unit which, again, is found in flagship siblings the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. You’ll also be able to avail yourself of a suite of Pixel-specific features, including Magic Eraser (great for removing errant objects in the background of your photos), plus Face Unblur and Real Tone (for producing more natural-looking skin tones in portraits).
In fact, one of the few faults we found with the Pixel 6a was that it was similarly priced to the Pixel 6 – without the gulf in price, why not opt for the more premium model? With such dramatic savings to be had thanks to Black Friday, this latest pricing gives the Pixel 6a, with its Tensor chipset and fantastic cameras, a competitive edge.
