O2 will offer six months of Disney Plus free to new and upgrading pay monthly users

...or £2 off your bill if you’re already a Pay Monthly user and take out a Disney Plus subscription

Today O2 has announced that it’s the exclusive mobile network distributor for Disney Plus, which launches in the UK in just eight days’ time.

That may sound like the kind of business news you don’t come to Expert Reviews for, but it has a knock-on effect to fans of Disney properties out there. If you take out a new O2 pay monthly contract, or are an existing customer that upgrades, O2 will give you six months of Disney Plus free of charge, rather than the usual £5.99 monthly fee. That means a total saving of £35.94, which isn’t too shabby.

If you’re a current O2 Pay Monthly customer with no plans to upgrade like me, you’ll be able to get £2/mth off your bill if you take out Disney Plus via O2 for the usual £5.99 per month.

“We’re delighted to be working with Disney to bring these incredible shows and movies to our customers, demonstrating that there are more reasons than ever to join the UK’s No.1 network,” said O2’s CEO Mark Evans.

If you’re not with O2 and have no plans of joining, it’s worth noting that there’s still another way to get the service on the cheap. If you order a whole year of the service before it launches on 24 March, you’ll get 12 months for £49.99. Not as cheap as the discounted 12-month price from O2, which comes to £35.94 once the six free months are discounted, but not a bad saving overall, as it means you’re paying £4.16/mth, rather than the normal £5.99.

Either is pretty good value, especially as Disney has now confirmed that the service will be launching with over 600 episodes of The Simpsons – something which was in doubt, as Sky has been the home of the show in the UK for decades.
