Microsoft is slashing Xbox One prices for E3 Week

But the best bargain is elsewhere

E3 – the annual gaming industry jamboree – kicks off next week, and if you’re sad that you don’t have an Xbox One to play the upcoming exclusives, Microsoft has a bit of a treat for you.

The company has kicked off its E3 Week Sale on the site, letting you pick up an Xbox One S or X for less.

The Xbox One X is where the real savings are. The most powerful games console on the planet gets £70 off bundles, with various options up for grabs. For £379, you can get an Xbox One X with Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, Forza Horizon 4, Fallout 76, Metro Saga, Battlefield V or three months’ worth of Xbox Game Pass. The choice is yours.

If your budget doesn’t quite stretch that far, there are Xbox One S bundles with up to £50 off. The bundled games are mainly the same as above, but there are also options to get Minecraft, Sea of Thieves, Anthem or Rocket League instead, and it comes in at under £200, too.

For me, though, the best option lies away from the Microsoft Store over at Currys. For £199, you can get the rather snazzy limited edition purple Xbox One S with Fortnite, Tekken 7 and Project Cars 2. That’s a whole lot of gaming right there, with the added bonus that the purple hue gives me nostalgic GameCube pangs.

Whichever you choose, you should be pretty happy with your choice, though. The Xbox One has matured into a very good console with a fine library of games – enhanced further by the backwards compatibility Microsoft has diligently been adding to. Even if Microsoft announces new hardware at E3, there’s still plenty of life in the Xbox One yet.
