This Apple AirPods deal is the best we’ve seen: Save £30 on the original Apple buds
Following the launch of AirPods 2, BT.com is offering a £30 discount on the original AirPods, dropping the price to £129
It’s rare for Apple’s AirPods to get any sort of price drop. The best we’d previously seen was a £20 reduction on Black Friday.
However, following the launch of AirPods 2 last month, BT.com has knocked £30 off the price of the first-generation model, dropping them from £159 down to £129.

This is the cheapest we’ve seen the original AirPods on sale for and this price drop will remain in place until stocks run out. At the time of writing, BT.com has more than 50 left.
We’d also expect to see more retailers drop the price over the coming weeks as they run down stock of the older version to make room for the new.

The major difference between the AirPods and AirPods 2 is that the latter comes with a wireless charging case. This means it can be placed on any compatible wireless charger to give it a battery boost.
You do need to pay a hefty premium for this convenience, though, and the AirPods 2 with wireless charging case will set up back £199. Apple has stopped selling the first-generation buds. You can now only buy AirPods 2 with, or without, the wireless charging case direct from the tech giant.
If you want AirPods 2 without the wireless case, you’ll pay £159. Alternatively, you can buy the wireless charging case separately for £79 and this case is compatible with the first-generation AirPods.
Other differences include being able to access Siri directly from the AirPods 2 – before you’d have to use your phone – and a 50% boost in talk time. For the first time, customers can now add a personal engraving to the AirPods cases for free, too.
