Asus has made the Zenbook Infinity - the first laptop with a Gorilla glass lid - official at its Computex press conference

Asus has officially revealed the Zenbook Infinity, a 13in touchscreen Ultrabook with a lid protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Putting the machine on display as the assembled journalists filed into the company's Computex press conference, we'll have to wait until the show floor opens to bring you a detailed hands-on, but we can run through the specifications today.

At a mere 15.5mm thick, the Zenbook Infinity is roughly 15% thinner than the current crop of Zenbook laptops, yet still makes room for two USB3 ports, a card reader, Micro HDMI and mini DisplayPort around the sides. The Chiclet-style keyboard and all-in-one touchpad look very similar to existing Zenbooks, so we'll just have to try it out to see if Asus has changed them for the better.

The aforementioned Gorilla Glass lid combines with the all-aluminium body to give the laptop a premium appearance. The 13.3in touchscreen is set o use an IPS panel, but we don't yet know what the screen resolution is. Hopefully we'll learn tomorrow whether Asus can match (or beat) the 2,560x1,440 screen Acer is using for it's newly refreshed S7 Ultrabook.

The Zenbook Infinity will be powered by a 28w Intel Haswell processor, with an undisclosed amount of memory (most likely 8GB in a flagship product like this) and several different capacity SSDs depending on specification. Battery life is currently unproven, but we should learn more on the show floor tomorrow.

The Zenbook Infinity isn't due out until the end of the year, and we have yet to learn how much one will cost when it does. However, if you're looking for a high-end ultrabook, you should certainly wait until later in the week to see what we think of this.
