Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite is the best ebook reader money can buy and, for a very limited time, it’s plummeted to its cheapest-ever price of just £85 for the Prime Day sale. That’s down from its former price of £130 (its average cost is £118), which makes this an unmissable offer. You need to get in there very quickly, though, because this spectacular saving ends at midnight tonight.
You’ll be getting the 8GB version with Amazon offers on the lockscreen, but you can step up to the version without them for an extra £10. Either way, you’re getting an ereader that simply blew us away when we first reviewed it – as we explain in more detail below.

It’s fair to say we were impressed by the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite in our review, awarding it five stars out of five and a coveted Best Buy award – the highest praise Expert Reviews can bestow. As we said, “if you need to replace a dying model, or are joining the ebook revolution for the first time, well, I can’t think of a better place to start”.
Slimmer bezels and a larger (6.8in) screen than its predecessor mean you now get more words per page, while lighting is also improved with 17 LEDs rather than five, which you can change to a warmer hue in the evening. You’re also getting IPX8 waterproofing, Audible audiobook support and speedier USB-C charging.
If that wasn’t enough, the battery will now last ten weeks rather than the six of the former Paperwhite. That may be down to a more efficient processor, which also makes it snapper when booting up, turning pages and browsing the Kindle store.
In short, there’s never been a better time to buy a Kindle Paperwhite: you’re getting a truly excellent ereader for a similarly jaw-dropping price. Once again, just get in there as soon as physically possible because Amazon’s Prime Day sale finishes at midnight tonight.
