Amazon Prime Video is finally available on Sky Q AND Now TV devices

New Amazon and Sky partnership brings Prime Video to Sky – and Now TV to Fire devices

At long last, you can now watch Amazon Prime Video on your Sky Q box. Amazon and Sky have signed a long-term, pan-European agreement that finally allows the two tech giants to share entertainment services. Prime Video is available on Sky devices (including Sky Q and Now TV boxes), while Now TV is free to download on Amazon’s various Fire TV devices.

Most Sky and Amazon Fire devices gain Prime Video and Now TV support from today, 14 December. Specifically, Sky Q and Now TV boxes receive Prime Video today, while the Fire TV Stick Lite (1st Gen), Fire TV Stick (3rd Gen), Fire TV Stick (2nd Gen) and Fire TV Stick 4K all receive Now TV today as well.

Those with other Fire TV devices (presumably the Fire TV Cube and Fire TVs from JVC) will have to wait until early 2021 for Now TV support. The rollout applies to customers in the UK, Austria, Germany, Italy and Ireland – there has been no word yet on customers living in other European countries.

Accessing the Prime Video or Now TV app is as simple as navigating to it on your Sky Q/Now TV box, or downloading and installing the app on your Fire TV Stick, Stick Lite or Stick 4K. You will need a separate, existing account in order to access the content, at least for now: it’s possible to pay for a Netflix subscription as a part of your broader Sky Q subscription, however, so things may change on that front in the future.

This agreement has been a long time coming. Sky Q launched in February 2016 without support for major streaming services and only gained Netflix support at the beginning of this year, adding Disney Plus after it launched in March. With Amazon Prime Video now officially entering the fold – and Now TV’s entire library already available – Sky Q is becoming an incredibly appealing prospect.

After all, this brings pretty much every single live Premier League fixture – from Prime Video, Sky Sports and BT Sport – together under one roof for the first time. Then of course there’s the fact that Sky/Now TV’s existing library of films and TV shows is joining original TV shows and films from Amazon’s equally extensive collection. All in time for Christmas.

Incidentally, if you’d like to know more about what’s on Now TV this month, you can do so via our dedicated page. Or perhaps you’d like to know what’s new on Amazon Prime Video – you can do that via this article. If you’re a Sky Q or Fire TV Stick owner, you’ll be watching plenty of both this Christmas.
