Amazon Echo sale: Retailer slashes prices on Certified Refurbished products
There's no shame in buying second-hand - not when you're enjoying savings of up to £90 on these top-class devices
Say what you like about retail giant Amazon, but we all should admit that one thing it does extremely well is its own devices. And if you missed out on bagging a device at a lower price during July’s Prime Day sale, and you’re unwilling to wait for Black Friday in November, here’s some advice: why not buy a second-hand “Certified Refurbished” device?
That might not sound like a particularly appealing option. But here’s how it works with Amazon’s CR goods. They’re pre-owned products that get returned to the retailer. Amazon then tests, refurbishes and certifies they’re fit for resale – and then they’re put back on the market for a reduced price. They look brand-new, and also come with a one-year warranty. No ugly wear-and-tear; no worries that they’ll clap out after five minutes of use. Sounds pretty good, right?

Amazon Certified Refurbished deals
Amazon Echo (was £80, now £50)
Amazon’s second-generation Echo (which we reviewed here) has been given a 37% discount in the CR sale. Smaller than its predecessor, and bearing a range of new features, this is an excellent addition to any living room. Get it while it’s £30 less.
Amazon Echo Dot (was £45, now £25)
Or if you’d prefer its smaller – and cheaper – little brother, you can pick up the Echo dot for 44% right now. We’re huge fans of this cute little piece of kit: it’s an awesome entry-level device if you’re new to the world of smart speakers.
Amazon Echo Plus (was £130, now £60)
When it comes to savings, here’s the star of the show: you can save an almighty 53% on a Certified Refurbished Echo Plus right now. This brilliant device will link you up to all the smart devices you have in your home, from your lamps to your heating.
Amazon Fire HD 10 (was £130, now £85)
With an impressive battery lifespan, and the ever-reliable Alexa available hands-free, Amazon’s Fire HD 10 is the latest in a glittering lineage of tablets. The initial price tag might put off those who want to keep their spending beneath £100, but the new asking of £85 should put paid to that.
Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (was £108, now £78)
