Amazon’s Fire TV Cube for £80 is a hot Cyber Monday deal

Ever wanted to control your TV and entertainment equipment with the power of your voice, then you might want to check out Amazon’s Cyber Monday deal on its Fire TV Cube, which has seen the smart home device get £30 sliced off its price tag.
Providing you’re quick, you can get the Amazon Fire TV Cube this Cyber Monday for £80 rather than £110. Or you can spread that amount out across five months of £16-per-month payments and still benefit from the deal.
As Amazon didn’t release the first-generation Fire TV Cube, this offer covers the second-generation device. But like the original Fire TV Cube, this 2019 version is effectively three devices in one.
Its main feature is its streaming capabilities, being able to play all your favourite BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 shows, and Amazon Prime or Netflix if you’re prepared to pay their respective subscriptions. And these channels and services will be presented in 4K, with HDR and Dolby Vision should the options be available.
Secondly, it works as an Amazon Alexa smart speaker. Anything Alexa can do, the Fire TV Cube can too and, crucially, that involves being able to turn on your TV and other smart home equipment, such as a soundbar or network-connected lights.
Thirdly, it works as a universal remote for smart things connected up to your TV. That means it can control not just the TV but also your set-top box.
All these features originally came in at the not unreasonable price of £110, which considering an Echo Dot and 4K Fire TV Stick on their own would set you back £100 between them, that price was not bad at all. At a new price of £80, the Fire TV Cube is rather the smart home tech bargain.
