Competent if limited disk imaging tool that is starting to look long in the tooth

It’s also possible to create dedicated backups for files and folders rather than an entire drive or partition, which can be useful if you want to keep separate system and data backups. It’s a no-nonsense implementation, with simple default inclusion and exclusion criteria for .doc and .txt files but no dedicated backup schemes for saving your photo or music files, but it does the job.

While mostly efficient at providing access to DiskImage’s tools, the program’s interface looks and feels dated. While this is mostly a cosmetic gripe, it also means DiskImage not as instantly navigable as its contemporaries. It can be run in a pared down Express view, which provides quick access to backup, recovery and disk mounting tools, although this is of limited use.

While we often bemoan applications that have, over many generations, become filled to the gills with only nominally useful tools and routines, we can’t help but feel that DiskImage 6, despite its appealingly low price, could really use some extra functionality to attract the home user. It does its core job competently enough, but lacks additional functionality such as customisable file backups and can be clunky to use.
