Surface Pro 8 STILL ridiculously cheap after Prime Day

Surface Pro 8 dealsie - hero

Microsoft's tasty tablet can now be yours for just £649

Although slightly long in the tooth in design terms, the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 is one of the most popular 2-in-1 convertibles out there. With Microsoft designing the software and hardware, it’s a serious machine that can function as both a tablet and laptop brilliantly. Throw in a Surface Pen, and it’s better still.

But cheap, it isn’t. Or at least, not normally. But for Prime Day, Amazon slashed the price of two popular configurations, hitting a great low price and making it a very tempting proposition indeed. Better still, while Prime Day has finished, the discount is still available on the cheaper of the two models. This means that the offer is no longer a Prime exclusive, too.

The entry-level configuration is no slouch: an Intel Core i5 processor is paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage. It’s normally £999, but is available for just £649 today. It has been cheaper – briefly selling for £616 on the final day of Prime Day – but it’s still a real bargain.

To be clear, you’ll probably want to spend a little bit more than this. Both are just the tablet with no accessories, and at the very least you’ll want to buy yourself a keyboard case at the same time to make it more laptop-like. Sadly there’s no Prime Day discount on the official Microsoft Signature Type cover, so it’ll set you back £159.

As for the Surface Pro 8 itself? Well, it’s as brilliant as usual, as our Reviews Editor Jon Bray explained in his review.

“The Surface Pro 8 is a very hard act to beat for sheer versatility,” he wrote. “Used solo, it’s an excellent tablet, but when combined with the Surface Pro Signature keyboard it’s a thoroughly competent and powerful laptop replacement, while the Surface Slim Pen 2 turns it into a handy graphics tool.”

In other words, it’s right up there with the best 2-in-1 devices around. And with this kind of reduction, now is definitely the time to buy – especially since you don’t need to be a Prime member to do so.
