Prime Day deal: The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 is just £549

Samsung’s latest tablet is going cheap for Prime Day

The Samsung Galaxy Tab series may have played second fiddle to Apple’s all-conquering iPad in terms of sales figures, but for those that favour Android, it’s a very sensible choice.

It’s usually not too cheap, though, so if you’ve been on the fence, now could be the time to strike. The latest Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 is available for just £549 at Amazon — that’s a £100 saving on its usual £649 price point.

True, you could instead buy the larger Galaxy Tab S7 Plus for cheaper as part of the sale, but for those that want the benefits of a new generation, this is as good as it gets.

So what are those advantages, exactly? It’s basically your standard specs refresh. There’s 8GB RAM rather than 6, the faster Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 over the Snapdragon 865, modest rear camera improvements and a 12MP ultrawide front-facing camera for better video calling.

Otherwise, it’s more of the same: both the Tab S7 and S8 have brilliant 120Hz 2,560 x 1,600 displays, and come with an S Pen in the box to make the most of it. Both come with a generous 128GB of internal storage that can be topped up with a microSD card, with a maximum capacity of 1TB. They’re both pretty darned light, too, tipping the scales at just 1.1lb.

As our Senior Editor Nathan Spendelow wrote in his Tab S8 series hands-on review: “They look the business, should perform well and are reasonably well priced, too.”

With £100 off, the Tab S8 is even more reasonably priced for Prime Day. If for some reason iPadOS doesn’t do it for you, then this should be the next port of call.
