Apple’s AirPods 4 ANC are “the ideal workout headphones” and are on sale during Amazon’s Spring Deal Days event

The chief people officer of Expert Reviews’ parent company recently told me he was “a complete Apple nerd”, reeling off a list of the products he owned, which included a MacBook, Apple Watch, iPhone and Apple TV. AirPods were conspicuously absent from that list, but he’s reconsidering his position on the brand’s wireless earbuds after seeing this Amazon Spring Sale deal on the AirPods 4 ANC. 

Did the AirPods 4 ANC receive a positive review?

Yes. Very positive, in fact. The AirPods 4 ANC were awarded five stars and a Recommended badge by our Head of Reviews, Jon Bray, at their launch price of £169, but are currently available for £139. That’s not the cheapest they’ve ever been, but not far off it – they spent a spell at £134 in August 2025. And, when you consider what they bring to the table, it’s a very attractive price. 

What’s so good about the AirPods ANC?

Apple’s semi-open-fit earbuds have surprisingly effective ANC, considering they don’t completely seal your ear canals. While testing them, Jon noted that he didn’t need to turn up the volume to dangerous levels to enjoy his music and described the inclusion of ANC as “no tick box feature”.

They have a compelling list of other qualities, too. Spatial Audio lends three-dimensionality to content that thrives on it, such as Dolby Atmos movie soundtracks, and head tracking is “uncannily effective”. The design is comfortable and very stable in your ears, and Apple’s H2 chip unlocks handy Apple ecosystem functionality, including hands-free Siri.

Crucially, most people will be perfectly happy with the way the AirPods 4 ANC sound. “What’s particularly impressive about them is how solid and well-defined bass is,” wrote Mr Bray. This is typically an area of weakness for earbuds without silicone eartips, so kudos to Apple for getting this right for a mainstream audience.

Should you buy the AirPods 4 ANC during the Amazon Spring Sale?

Jon did feel the price was a little high when he reviewed the AirPods 4 ANC, but having spoken to him about this deal, he feels they’re worth every penny at £139. But only if you own an iPhone and don’t want your ear canals filled with silicone tips. For those people, he described them as “the ideal workout headphones”
