Traktor Kontrol Z2 club mixer hits the shops

NI's first club mixer is now available to buy online and in stores

Native Instruments’ first club mixer, the Traktor Kontrol Z2, is now available to buy. The German firm’s most important release since the Traktor Kontrol S4 all-in-one controller includes many of the features you’d expect from more established club mixer brands such as Rane and Pioneer.

The two-channel scratch mixer has a built-in audio interface that lets you control NI’s Traktor Pro software with two attached turntables or CDJs, or just play ordinary vinyl or CDs, giving you the best of the digital and analogue worlds. It uses three mini Innofader faders, which are designed for high performance, and has balanced main and booth outputs designed for club environments.

It also lets you control an extra two remix decks to create your own mashups and edits, as well as control hot-cues and effects, including the new Flux Mode and Macro FX.

According to Native Instruments, “Flux Mode tracks the time during complicated scratch and effect performances, allowing for creative loop rolls or effects while returning the song accurately to the beat”. Macro FX is “designed according to classic DJ workflows, and condense complex effect performances onto a single control knob on the hardware.”

The full version of Traktor Pro 2.6 comes bundled in the box, as well as two timecode vinyl 12ins and two timecode CDs, letting you hook up your decks and get started straight away. The unit also has a built-in USB hub for attaching modular controllers, such as the Traktor Kontrol X1 and the Traktor Kontrol F1.

The the Traktor Kontrol Z2 is available to buy now for £629. You can see five-times DMC World Champion DJ Craze put it through its paces here.
