Yes, this 55in 4K QLED TV from Hisense really is this cheap for Prime Day

Get well over a third off the mid-range Hisense U7QF 4K TV in the Prime Day sales before time runs out

There’s no time like Prime Day to make some major savings on a brand-new 4K TV, and this Hisense QLED discount is one of the best deals we’ve come across in Amazon’s annual bargain bonanza. The Hisense U7QF 55in (aka Hisense 55U7QFTUK) might not have the catchiest of names but, at under £550, you’ll definitely want to grab hold of it all the same.

Having launched in the UK for £899 back in June 2020, the Hisense U7QF has dropped steadily in price over time and, exclusively for Prime members, Amazon has slashed the price further still. It’s now only £548: That’s a £350 reduction, so well over a third off, and it’s also the cheapest this TV has ever been on Amazon. But what do you get for your money?

The Hisense U7QF is a well-rounded 4K smart TV that packs in heaps of features we wouldn’t normally expect from televisions at this price. It has universal HDR (High Dynamic Range) coverage, meaning it supports HDR10, HDR10+, Hybrid-Log Gamma and Dolby Vision.

These are the four mainstream HDR formats and with all of them on board, you’ll be able to enjoy 4K HDR no matter how you watch your movies and shows, be it on Blu-ray or through streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. It’s not all about the visuals either, as the Hisense U7QF has Dolby Atmos support for your soundbar or surround sound setup.

In addition to paid streaming platforms such as those we’ve just mentioned, the Hisense U7QF’s smart TV platform gives you access to all the free UK catch-up apps (BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4 and My 5) via the Freeview Play app. Among various other free apps, you’ll also get YouTube – the greatest source of free 4K content there is.

Hisense’s U7QF uses a panel technology called QLED. This means it has a layer of quantum dots in front of its LED backlights that reacts to light in order to increase the vibrancy and peak brightness of the display. QLED panels are more commonly found on mid-range and premium Samsung TVs, so it’s a real surprise to see it on a TV this affordable – not that we’re complaining!

The U7QF has a FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) lighting system as opposed to the cheaper edge-lit or back-lit LED lighting you’ll find in most TVs at this price. With FALD, the LEDs are arranged in zones behind the LCD panel and are independently controlled by the TV, resulting in better black levels, higher contrast and superior shadow details.

Connectivity is excellent on the Hisense U7QF too. There are four HDMI 2.0 inputs, one of which supports ARC (Audio Return Channel) for hooking up to a soundbar, plus an optical output for easy connection to an AV receiver. Naturally, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are built-in, and as an added bonus the TV has integrated Amazon Alexa, allowing you to control the TV using just your voice.

There’s not long left on this discount, and we’ve yet to see any other 4K QLED at this kind of price, so if you’re after big-screen HDR thrills then now would be the time to buy. Don’t forget that you’ll need to be an Amazon Prime member to claim this deal.
