Amazon and Currys PC World have both slashed the price of the Samsung Q80T QLED TV from £1,599 to its lowest-ever price of £899.
This early Black Friday deal brings one of the best gaming TVs you could buy down to comfortably under £1,000. If you’re looking for a new screen to make the most of the new generation of consoles, this looks like the offer to beat.
While the 55in TV works wonders with streaming, its features are particularly suited to hours spent in beautiful virtual worlds. One of its HDMI inputs is HDMI 2.1 and supports 4K at 120Hz, with a variable refresh rate to eliminate screen tearing and an Auto-Low Latency Mode that automatically engages the TV’s low-latency Game Mode when consoles are connected.
The screen has three HDR formats: HDR 10, HDR 10+ and the broadcast-friendly Hybrid-Log Gamma. It also comes with a choice of three smart assistants: Samsung’s Bixby, Google Assistant or Amazon’s Alexa.
It also happens to be the cheapest Samsung QLED to have full-array local dimming (FALD) lighting as opposed to edge lighting. In a nutshell, this technology creates better image contrast by dimming the parts of the screen that need to be darker without impacting the areas of the screen that need to stay bright.
