Fitbit leak hints next-gen Versa will have built-in Alexa

A new leak suggests that the new Fitbit Versa will boast an in-built Amazon Alexa and OLED screen

The next generation of Fitbit Versa is just around the corner, and with it a host of hints, leaks and rumours about what’s in store.

We had good things to say about Fitbit’s most recent offering, the Fitbit Versa Lite. We gave it four stars in our full review, lauding its 25% price cut on the original Versa, alongside its stylish and likeable design. Safe to say we’re buzzing to see what Fitbit has lined up next.

Now it seems we won’t have to wait too long for our next bout of insight. Renowned leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) appears to have obtained images of the next-gen Versa smartwatch, which outclasses the current iteration of Versa in an exciting host of ways.

One of the most prominent changes rumoured to be coming to the wearable is built-in Alexa, meaning you can bark orders at your Fitbit Versa in a manner we’ve only seen featured on Apple and Samsung smartwatches. That’s quite the upgrade.

Another big update looks set to come to the display. If rumours turn out to be true, the new Versa will shed its LCD screen of yore to make way for a brand new OLED display encased in a curved glass surface. The end result is more than a little Apple Watch-esque. Just saying.

The leak also seems to suggest that the new iteration of Versa will come with one single button – à la the Versa Lite – rather than three, for a new generation of streamlined design.

As for when we can expect to see the new Versa, that’s anyone’s guess. There haven’t been concrete hints as to release date yet, but watch this space; we’ll be updating this page as and when we get more of the low-down on the next-gen Fitbit Versa, so be sure to check back in.
