The 4G Samsung Galaxy Watch is now under £200

Never be disconnected with the now cheaper 4G smartwatch

We’re big fans of the Samsung Galaxy Watch at Expert Reviews, and this particular deal might be the sweetest we’ve seen for a particular kind of buyer.

Laptops Direct are selling the 42mm Galaxy Watch with 4G for £199.97. While we’ve seen cheaper prices on the regular Bluetooth version, if you want a watch that will pick up the slack when your phone is out of reach, then this is the one you need.

The fact that it includes cellular data means you can take calls and receive messages on the watch, as long as you’re on an EE or Vodafone contract, and use a supported Galaxy phone. No phone needs to be nearby.

Why would you need that? Well, the real advantage for my money is for runners who want as little bulk as possible. Because the Galaxy Watch has built-in GPS, 4GB of storage and NFC, it’s the perfect wearable for those that want to leave their phone at home. You can track runs, pay for the bus and load up an offline Spotify playlist. Perfect.

It’s also a very good watch in its own right, of course. As Ed wrote in our review: “the Samsung Galaxy Watch improves on the Gear S3 in every conceivable way. Battery life, in particular, is stellar and the watch also fills adds the only significant hole in the Gear S3’s feature set – swim tracking. Bar a few annoying bugs, there’s very little reason not to buy the Galaxy Watch. It’s excellent.”

The only thing stopping him from recommending it at the time was that the Gear S3 and Gear Sport offered a similar experience for less money. But now that the Galaxy Watch 4G is available for under £200, that caveat no longer applies. Go ahead and fill your boots – especially if you’re a runner.
