Samsung’s intriguing The Frame 4K TV is now £149 off and down to just £1,149 at both John Lewis and Amazon (where it’s nearly sold out), in a special Black Friday deal.
The Frame is a brilliant idea for anyone who mounts their TV on the wall. It is built to look like an actual art frame, with a contemporary black frame-like border that you can customise or swap out to match your decor.
Using ‘Art Mode’, The Frame becomes your own personal gallery piece for displaying artwork and photos, and its ambient light detection allows the panel to adjust its brightness automatically to suit the surroundings.
And since it has a QLED – or quantum dot – panel, The Frame can get much brighter than standard LCD LED-lit TVs of the same size.
Frame stuff aside, this is an excellent smart TV that offers up all the features you’d expect. Samsung’s Tizen OS is an intuitive platform that carries all the major streaming services including Netflix, Disney Plus and Prime Video, and the UK catch-up apps (BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub etc) are present and correct too. There are also three voice assistants to choose from: Samsung Bixby, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa.
And you don’t have to hang this TV on the wall, of course. If you decide to attach The Frame’s feet and stand it on a flat surface, you can then adjust the height and angle of the panel to your liking.
