All-new Echo Dot (2022) already discounted in HUGE Black Friday deal

It’s only been out a few weeks, but now’s the time to buy the new Amazon Echo Dot in the Black Friday sales

With Amazon regularly refreshing its own-brand Echo smart devices, it’s usually a given that the prices will dramatically drop around Black Friday, but not often on something as fresh off the assembly line as the brand-new Echo Dot.

That’s right, the fifth-generation dinky smart speaker is already reduced in price in the Black Friday sales, mere weeks after release. With a launch price of £55 on 20 October in the UK, you can now pick up a 2022 Echo Dot for just £27 for a limited time.

That’s a huge saving of £28, or 51% off the original price. Considering this is the first time the Echo Dot has dropped in price, and it’s dropped this far in such a short time, we didn’t have to wait long for this frankly ludicrous deal.

Not only that, but there’s also the option to pay an extra £5 for a Philips Hue smart bulb bundle or with a Meross smart plug. Both of these bundles cost £32, down from a list price of £75.

What’s new with the 2022 Echo Dot, then? To be clear, this is the model without the LED digital clock – which isn’t on offer – but there’s still a lot to like with the regular version. The biggest change over the previous iteration is the addition of a new 1.73in speaker, which is not only bigger in size but promises less distortion at louder volumes.

A new temperature sensor allows the Echo Dot to automatically switch on your smart devices, such as tower fans and heaters, when the ambient room temperature changes above/below pre-assigned thresholds. There’s also a new touch sensor at the top, so you can now silence your alarms or pause music without using your voice.

In fact, in our review, we found that the only downside worth mentioning was the removal of the line in/out audio jack. This means that you can no longer connect your phone to the speaker via a cable, and have to rely on Bluetooth for music casting. This is a relatively minor change, of course, and for just £27 you’re still getting the best smart speaker for your money.
