This is Amazon’s first ever discount on the Duet’s 3rd edition, and what a discount. Down from £350 to just £250, saving you a clean £100 off the price it’s been since launch. Beware, though: this crazy deal will cause a stampede, so we don’t expect it to be available for its full official four days.
Not only is this the best Chromebook deal we’ve seen this Black Friday, but the IdeaPad Duet 3 is one of the best 2-in-1 Chromebooks you can buy.
“The little Chromebook hybrid tablet that could” said our five-star review of the original IdeaPad Duet, which launched in 2020 for £300. The “even better” 3rd generation Duet – the one in this £100-off deal – launched in early October 2022 at £350, garnering five-star reviews from Amazon buyers and refusing to shift its price until now.
The model you get on this deal is a Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 3 Chromebook in Strom Grey, with an 11in display, HD audio and Chrome OS. Under the bonnet you get a 2.55 GHz Snapdragon CPU, 4GB RAM and 128GB of storage space. Your connectivity options are two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C ports with data, video and charging capabilities, plus Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi 5.
Chromebooks and 2-in-1s are a light and versatile laptop alternative, making them a great choice for students, professionals and multimedia fans alike. The IdeaPad Duet 3 switches quickly and smoothly between tablet mode (complete with front and rear cameras) and laptop mode, with a completely flat keyboard our reviewer found to be surprisingly comfortable and effective.
You can use both Chrome and Android apps, and switch between tasks with ease. The screen is a bright, clear, colour-accurate treat, making it ideal for streaming videos and editing photos. The cameras both work remarkably well, even in bright sunlight, and the device has great audio, with a depth and richness you wouldn’t expect from a budget tablet/Chromebook.
At just 1.56kg and 7.9mm deep, the IdeaPad is ideal for anyone on the move. But despite the dinky dimensions it’s also sturdy, with a robust shell to resist knocks, and new protection against fingerprint marks in the Duet 3.
The original IdeaPad’s battery lasted an impressive 16 hours and 14 minutes in our tests, and performance was good for a machine of this size and price.
