The LG C1 is available for just £899 ahead of Cyber Monday

You can pick up the 55in LG C1 for a joint lowest-ever price of £899 with this Black Friday TV deal at Box

If you’re still on the hunt for a Black Friday or Cyber Monday TV deal, this offer on the LG C1 at Box is well worth considering.

The online retailer has the 55in LG C1 listed for £999 – £1 cheaper than Currys, which is one of the few places you’ll still find this 2021 model available. But by using the code TV100, you can get a further £100 off that figure, bringing it down to just £899.

That’s the joint lowest-ever price we’ve seen this incredible OLED television available for and almost £300 cheaper than it was during last year’s Black Friday sales event.

The LG C1 won best TV at our Tech Product of the Year Awards in 2021 and remains an excellent choice for those wanting top-notch picture quality combined with advanced next-gen gaming features.

It’s not as bright as its 2022 successor, the LG C2, which uses LG’s OLED evo panel technology, but that doesn’t prevent it from delivering stellar SDR and HDR images. The 55in variant of the LG C2 is currently listed for £1,049 at Amazon and £1,079 at John Lewis, though My John Lewis members can save an additional £100 by using the code MYJL100LG at checkout. So, if you don’t mind spending an extra £80, we’d recommend going for the newer model, but if you’re counting your pennies, the C1 remains an attractive choice.

It’s powered by LG’s Alpha 9 Gen 4 processor and runs LG’s webOS, which we deem to be the most comprehensive and easy-to-use operating system around. Streaming service support is wide-ranging, and using LG’s Magic Remote to navigate your way around the huge choice of apps is wonderfully intuitive.

We’ve mentioned next-gen gaming support already, but it’s worth expanding upon why the LG C1 pairs so well with the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. Its panel has a 120Hz refresh rate and all four of its HDMI ports are of the 2.1 variety, meaning you can make full use of that refresh rate to enjoy 4K@120Hz gaming. Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) are supported too, both of which help ensure an optimal gaming experience.

That experience is further enhanced by minimal input lag and LG’s Game Optimiser mode, which provides a choice of genre settings, black and white stabiliser settings, and the ability to fine-tune dark areas to help you spot even the finest of details in shadowy scenes.

When not gaming, the LG C1 is able to deliver sensational picture quality, with the inherent advantages of OLED technology at the fore. Blacks are deep and inky, colours punchy and accurate, while motion handling and AI upscaling are great, too. Sound quality is impressive given the limitations of an in-built speaker system and the LG C1’s slimline chassis, with LG’s AI Acoustic Tuning automatically optimising settings based on your environment.

All of these qualities led us to describe the LG C1 as “an impressive all-rounder sure to delight TV addicts, movie fans and avid gamers alike”. It’s an OLED fit to grace any living room and one that comes with a wholehearted recommendation.

As noted above, those seeking the best bang for their LG buck should look at the discounted LG C2 instead, but if you don’t mind making some relatively minor sacrifices to save yourself £80, you’ll be hard-pressed to find as capable an OLED for the money.
