These Kindle deals are just in time for Christmas

This could be your last chance to save on one of Amazon's Kindle devices before Christmas arrives

Black Friday still looms large in the rearview mirror, but Amazon isn’t slowing down. There are Kindle deals galore right now on the site, as the House of Bezos ramps up its “Last Minute” Christmas sale and attempts to frighten us all into a panic buy in the process. Don’t worry: you still have over two weeks until Christmas. Wait, really?

Anyway. The point is that for those who missed the Black Friday Kindle deals, this is a stellar opportunity to save some cash on an ebook reader. All three models are enjoying lovely discounts right now. The standard Kindle is £10 off at £60; the Kindle Paperwhite, £15 off at £105; and the Kindle Oasis, £35 off at £195.

Now, these aren’t quite Black Friday prices, but it’s hardly surprising; after all, there has to be SOME incentive to stay up all night the day before Black Friday refreshing the Amazon storefront. A discount is still a discount, particularly when it’s applied to products this good.

All three Kindles received glowing reviews from us. Our head of reviews Jon Bray awarded all three products five stars, describing each model as the best in its class – not that there’s much competition.

Of the regular Amazon Kindle, Jon wrote: “Although it isn’t quite the cheapest Kindle, the addition of a front light and Bluetooth connectivity mean it’s clearly the best-value Kindle in the range.

If you’re looking for a cheap replacement for your ageing 5th-generation Kindle, […] take my advice and just go out and buy yourself one of these new models. You most certainly will not regret it.”

To the existing formula, the Kindle Paperwhite adds full waterproofing, meaning you can read in the bath with no risk. The display is sharper, and the Paperwhite has substantially more storage than its cheaper sibling, at either 8GB or 32GB. It’s also available in a host of colours.

The Kindle Oasis, meanwhile, builds upon the Paperwhite primarily by increasing the screen size (and improving the quality) and by reintroducing physical page turn buttons. Although these buttons are lined up on the right-hand side, the page will reorientate itself if you flip the Oasis over. It’s also fully waterproof and will automatically adjust backlight brightness to suit the environment.
