With this in mind, it makes sense to get yourself a 5G-ready handset in anticipation and you’ll struggle to find better than Samsung’s Galaxy S10 5G. What’s more, the handset is now the cheapest its ever been in what appears to be early Black Friday deals on Amazon.

For what is likely to be a limited time, and while stocks last, a 128GB version is now £615, down from £800 – a saving of 23% – while the 256GB model is a fantastic £200 cheaper at £890, down from £1,099.

These offers only apply to the 5G version of the Galaxy S10, and at the time of writing only the Majestic Black colour is available at these prices.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G was announced in February, months before any of the 5G networks went live in the UK, alongside the standard Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus, and Galaxy S10e

It then went on sale in April.

In addition to having 5G support, thanks to its Exynos 5100 modem, the Galaxy S10 5G has a 6.7in WQHD+ Dynamic AMOLED screen and uses a 4,500mAh capacity battery to help mitigate the battery usage caused by faster data speeds. The S10 5G also includes an added 3D depth-sensing camera alongside a host of other sensors.

The rear camera array contains a 12-megapixel unit with dual-aperture (f/1.5 or f/2.4), a 12-megapixel, f/2.4 2x telephoto zoom camera and a new ultra-wide-angle 16-megapixel, f/2.2 camera.

It’s dust- and water-resistant with a rating of IP68 and comes with 256GB or 512GB of storage.

All of the UK’s major network operators have since gone live with their own 5G offerings and you can learn more about which operators are live where, and which locations are coming next on our 5G network hub

Contract prices for the Galaxy S10 5G aren’t cheap. On Vodafone, the cheapest contract costs £49 a month with an upfront cost of £149 and a monthly data allowance of 20GB, totalling £1,326 over 24 months. On EE, the cheapest is £43 a month with an upfront cost of £349 and 60GB of monthly data. However, these plans include the price of the phone.

If you take advantage of the £200 saving on Amazon, you can get a Vodafone contract for as little as £23 a month, and EE’s is just £20 a month.
