This five-star OLED TV is cheaper than EVER for Prime Day

The LG C1 OLED was our favourite TV of 2021, and now it's hit a record-low price in the Prime Day sales

The LG C1 OLED swept away the competition to become our favourite TV of 2021, and now it’s impressing again with historically low prices for Prime Day. The biggest bargain here is the 48in model, which usually averages around the £1,000 mark in price but has now dropped to just £799 – a good £70 cheaper than its previous lowest price.

If you prefer a larger screen, the good news is that the savings don’t stop there. The enormous 77in model is also getting in on the deals, coming down from the average cost of £2,819 to a more wallet-friendly £2,379. That’s a few pounds shy of the cheapest the 77in model has ever been but for an OLED TV of this size, it’s still quite the bargain.

So that’s the savings, but what of the TV itself? To start with, no matter which size you choose, you’re getting some astounding HDR performance. HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision are all supported here, with the rich colour reproduction and near-perfect contrast level producing vibrant and dynamic scenes.

To make the most of this picture quality, you have a full range of apps and streaming services at the tip of your fingers with LG’s slick webOS smart platform. The homepage is customisable and easy to navigate with the Magic Remote, so you can get quick access to Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime Video, or whatever your go-to service is. The OS is also totally inclusive where smart assistants are concerned, meaning you can connect it to your Apple, Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant device to control the TV with voice commands.

If gaming is your preferred pastime, you’re catered for here as well. The four HDMI ports all support VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), ALLM (Automatic Low-Latency Mode), eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel) and 4K at 120Hz. With this bundle of technology behind it, the LG C1 OLED allows for buttery smooth, tear-free gaming with exceptionally low input lag – in our review, we recorded lag of 12ms on a 60Hz signal, which then halved to an insanely fast 6ms on a 120Hz signal. In short, you can expect buttery smooth, tear-free gameplay from the LG C1 OLED that both looks and feels fantastic.

Despite its elegantly slim profile, the LG C1 OLED also contains a surprisingly effective sound system. The soundstage produced as standard has a decent width to it, as well as a degree of stereo separation. Audio can be tuned to optimise output for either a free-standing or wall-mounted TV, and you can further customise your experience with a selection of sound modes, including Standard, Clear Voice Pro, Cinema and Game Enhancer.
