The Sonos Roam is one of our favourite Bluetooth speakers and available for a very appealing price this Black Friday
The Sonos Roam has seen a decent discount in what we consider the best Black Friday speaker deal for most people.
It typically costs £179 (though can quite often be found at £159), but is available for £139 from a variety of retailers, including Sonos, Amazon and John Lewis, this Black Friday.
The Roam is a highly portable smart speaker that can stream audio over a WI-Fi or Bluetooth connection and won our coveted Best Buy award when we reviewed it last year. It also scooped best Bluetooth speaker at our Product of the Year Awards 2021.
Head of reviews, Jon Bray, was bowled over by the Roam’s sound quality, saying: “For its size, it’s probably the best speaker I’ve ever listened to, delivering all types of music with poise and balance.
“It has a surprisingly wide soundstage, its presentation is agile and dynamic and, although it’s limited by its size, it’s capable of dishing out plenty of low-end fun as well.”
High praise indeed. But the Roam has plenty of other things going for it in addition to exceptional audio. There’s support for Spotify Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, voice controls courtesy of Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa (though you have to choose one or the other), along with an app that offers integrated access to major streaming services including Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, TuneIn and Qobuz.
An IP67 rating for dust and water resistance means it’s kitted out perfectly well for use outdoors, and while its battery life of up to 10 hours isn’t amazing, it’s more than enough for most situations. And, thanks to Sonos’ Auto TruePlay technology, which analyses the acoustics of your environment and optimises sound based on the results, you can enjoy the same excellent audio wherever you are.
If you don’t require the voice assistant functionality offered by Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, you can pick up the Sonos Roam SL (speechless) for just £119. That’s £40 cheaper than its RRP of £159.
