Cheap tablet deals: SAVE on the Surface Go 3 this Prime Day

The entry-level specification of the Microsoft Surface Go 3 can be snapped up for £386 in this cracking Prime Day deal

Like the idea of a cheap tablet for light work on the move? The Surface Go 3 is Microsoft’s recommendation, and if the initial RRP wasn’t low enough to open your wallet, maybe this Prime Day reduction will do the trick.

Amazon has the 10.5in tablet reduced in two configurations. The Pentium Gold G5600 model is £3869 (down from £499), while the Intel Core i3 version is down to £445 (reduced from £569). Both come with 8GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

Bear in mind that for this price you just get the tablet, and to unlock the full power of the Microsoft Surface Go 3, you’ll want to pick up the Type Cover keyboard case too. The official model sized for the 10.5in Surface Go 3 will currently set you back around £125, but cheaper third-party kit is available.

While instinctively you may be moving your mouse towards the cheaper of the two Surface Go 3 models, we’d strongly recommend paying extra for the i3 version if you possibly can. The Pentium Gold version is, as we said in our three-star review, “horribly slow and underpowered”, actually performing slightly worse than the previous generation Surface Go 2.

While we haven’t reviewed the i3 model, Geekbench suggests you can get a marked improvement — although you really shouldn’t expect miracles at this price. If you have the budget and want a whole lot more bang for your buck, consider the Surface Pro 8, which is also on offer starting at just £649.

Still, if you want an inexpensive Windows 2-in-1 for light work, streaming and video calls, then you could do worse than the Surface Go 3. And if that’s your view, you can pick up this deal as part of Amazon’s Prime Day celebrations, with the offer expected to end tomorrow at midnight.
