Samsung’s Galaxy Watch8 Classic is one of a number of tempting-looking smartwatch deals in the Amazon Spring Deal Days sales, but for Samsung phone owners, it’s probably the best we’ve seen this week.

In fact, it’s been reduced to its lowest price so far on Amazon – down to £299 from an average price over the past 180 days of £396. It’s a chunky, attractive-looking smartwatch with a luxury look and it’s loaded with advanced features.

One of my favourite features of the Galaxy Watch8 Classic is its rotating bezel, which is used to navigate your way around the watch’s user interface, in place of the rotating crown you get on most rival high-end smartwatches.

It’s stuffed with health-centric and fitness features, including Samsung’s new AGE rating (short for Advanced Glycation End), which is supposed to indicate your metabolic health and aging, and the Antioxidant score, which looks for evidence of carotenoids in your blood.

It’s also equipped with dual-band GPS, so its measurement of your pace, distance and position should remain accurate, even when you’re surrounded by tall buildings.

I also appreciate that the watch is water-resistant to 50 metres, and topped with sapphire crystal glass. It’s as tough as they come and it should maintain its good looks for a long time to come.

Finally, as it’s an Android Wear watch, you can install additional apps from the Google Play Store, should you have extra requirements.

Like many main-brand smartwatches, the battery life on the Watch8 Classic is not brilliant. With the always-on screen display on, showing the time, our reviewer Andrew Williams found that he was using up around 60% of the battery every day, so you’ll struggle to get it to last two full days without having to charge.

The design of the strap, which isn’t particularly stretchy, and the weight of the watch also meant that the heart-rate monitoring was a little unreliable. Replacing the standard strap with a nylon hook-and-loop one should improve the situation, however, and should prevent the watch from jiggling around on your wrist.

The Watch8 Classic only launched last July, so it hasn’t had much time for the price to fall. This price of £299 is the lowest price we’ve seen it at since then.

Nonetheless, we did see it drop to £312 around Black Friday and £349 over Christmas, so this is unlikely to be the last time we see a discount on this wearable.

During sales periods like this, we put the whole Expert Reviews team to work looking for the best deals so you don’t have to. If you want to find out more, there’s a full explanation of our methods in this dedicated article.
