The predecessors to Sony’s latest ANC headphones are still fantastic, and now cheaper than ever in this Black Friday headphones deal
In Amazon’s Black Friday sales, these excellent Sony noise-cancelling headphones are now down to their lowest-ever price. The wireless Sony WH-1000XM3 would normally cost you around £213 on average, but now you can get them for just £159. The black versions are sold out for delivery almost everywhere – although still available for collection from Currys and Argos – but are still available in silver on Amazon.
Since we reviewed them, the XM3 have been superseded by Sony’s latest ANC offering, the WH-1000XM4, which will currently cost you £249 at Amazon. Nevertheless, they’re still a great pair of over-ear headphones, particularly at this price.
The Sony WH-1000XM3 have Bluetooth and NFC connectivity, and active noise cancellation (ANC) does a great job of blocking out disruptive background commotion, whether that be traffic, the buzz of a busy office or the noise of a crying baby on your morning commute. If you want to allow some ambient sound in, you can use the Headphones Connect app to select 50% noise cancellation, and there’s even a setting that allows them to pick up voices while blocking out other ambient noise.
They don’t disappoint in the audio quality department, either. The sound is superb and, crucially, well balanced. Bass is deep and powerful without overpowering the other frequencies, while trebles are bright and clear without sounding harsh.
In addition to this, Sony’s WH-1000XM3 are comfortable and offer fast USB-C charging. We concluded our review by saying that they are the “best wireless noise-cancelling headphones money can buy”, and although they’ve now been superseded by the XM4, we still think they’re excellent.
We saw the XM3 discounted back in July, when they were down to £167. It was a great deal then, and now they’re even cheaper. So, if you’re after a good pair of over-ear noise-cancelling headphones, this early Black Friday deal is well worth your attention.
