Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones get a BIG Black Friday price cut
One of our favourite pairs of noise-cancelling headphones gets the Black Friday treatment
The Sony WH-1000XM4 have seen a hefty price drop in the Black Friday sales, bringing them down to just £219 at Amazon. These noise-cancelling favourites have an average retail price around the £250 mark, so this price cut marks a saving of £30 – not bad for a truly smart set of ANC headphones.
We have long sung the praises of the five-star Sony WH-1000XM4 over-ear headphones and their predecessors before them, the WH-1000XM3 – they’re a best-in-class series of ANC headphones. We even crowned their successors, the WH-1000XM5, as THE Bluetooth headphones to beat – and these are now in the sub-£300 range for the first time thanks to the Black Friday sales.
If you’re looking for something a tad more budget-friendly, without scrimping on audio quality, comfort or ANC, then look no further than the WH-1000XM4. We were impressed by their effective noise cancellation and “beautifully expressive” audio, all encased in a supremely comfortable, well-designed headset.
The Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones are kitted out with a range of handy features, including wear detection (pausing audio when you remove your headphones and resuming it when you put them back on) and multipoint pairing (they’re capable of pairing with two devices at once, letting you flit between smartphone and laptop audio).
Speak-to-Chat is a particularly useful feature in a busy office or communal WFH set-up: start speaking to someone, and the feature will automatically pause your audio and let ambient sound in, a system we found worked very well in practice.
It should be noted that this isn’t the lowest price we’ve ever seen the Sony WH-1000XM4 – for a brief window in September they hit an all-time low of £202. Nonetheless, £219 is a good deal for quality ANC headphones.
If the Sony WH-1000XM4 want for anything, it’s water resistance. But if you can look beyond this small bugbear, these ANC headphones are excellent all-rounders packed with useful features and great all-round performance – and they’re now at one of their lowest ever prices.
