Some of Sony's best-ever headphones are still on offer for rock-bottom prices as Black Friday winds down
Sony is jumping aboard the Black Friday deals train in spectacular fashion. Right now at Amazon, you can save vast sums on a couple of the firm’s most popular pairs of wireless headphones, with discounts available on the horrendously named Sony WF-1000XM3 wireless earbuds and WH-1000XM3 over-ear wireless headphones.
The WF-1000XM3 earbuds are now £149, which is the cheapest they’ve ever been, while the WH-1000XM3 headphones are just a few quid shy of their lowest-ever price at £219, down from an RRP of £269.
The Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones proved so utterly perfect that our reviewer could find nothing bad to say about them.
“With the WH-1000XM3,” our reviewer Roland Moore-Colyer wrote, “Sony has gone straight to the top of the pile with a pair of premium wireless headphones that deliver excellent sound quality, leading noise cancelling and a solid feature set, all housed in a cleverly designed package.”
Features include touch-sensitive ear cups for controlling music playback, answering phone calls and activating your phone’s smart assistant; a USB-C charging port for fast charging (five hours of playback for ten minutes of charging); and a rather swish carry case that also includes a 3.5mm cable and airline adapter.
The Sony WF-1000XM3 earbuds, meanwhile, stole our reviewer’s heart, despite lacking official water or dust-proofing (perhaps not the most fundamental of errors on Sony’s part, but a downside all the same). With the same great audio, effective active noise cancellation (ANC) and solid wireless connection as their over-ear stablemates, our tester Christopher Minasians thought that the WF-1000XM3 earbuds were, at the time of their launch, “quite simply, the best noise-cancelling earphones and headphones on the market”.
Suffice to say that, despite the relative age of both products (they’re both over a year old), the industry has yet to prove Chris wrong.
