Google Chromecast is CRAZY cheap in the Black Friday sales
Now just £40, the Google Chromecast also comes with a free six-month subscription to Apple TV Plus
The Google Chromecast TV streaming dongle has had its price massively reduced in the Black Friday sales. Usually selling for £60, you can currently pick up the Chromecast with bundled remote for just £40 – that’s a sizeable saving of £20.
To be clear, we’ve seen the Chromecast drop to this price previously – most recently around Amazon’s second Prime Day event of the year – but what’s extra special about this deal is that it also comes with a free six-month subscription to Apple TV Plus.
This means that not only can you take advantage of all of the streaming apps available on your new Chromecast, but you also get access to Apple’s superb selection of movies and TV shows, including Severance, Prehistoric Planet and Wolfwalkers, at no extra cost.
As for the Chromecast itself, we gave it four stars out of five in our initial review, with the only major downside being the rather high launch price. However, at this brand-new deal price, it’s now a much more compelling option.
The Chromecast supports a wide range of streaming formats, including 4K, HDR 10+ playback and Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos content. The bundled remote control is a useful addition, too, with a comfortable design and an easy-to-use layout, with quick access buttons for YouTube and Netflix.
The user interface was highly praised in our review, too, with handy navigation features that felt particularly slick and responsive. Adding to that is the Google Assistant voice search function – just press and hold the button on the remote and say the title of the film, TV show or channel you want, and Chromecast will bring it up on the screen.
