John Lewis cuts price of Apple TV 4K for Black Friday
Save on the cost of an Apple TV 4K during the Black Friday sales
John Lewis has knocked £20 from the price of an Apple TV 4K, and thrown in a free year of Apple TV+, as part of its Black Friday lineup.
The reduction isn’t revolutionary, but it’s rare to see prices cut on the Apple TV 4K and a cost of £159 is certainly worth considering if you’re in the market for a new TV streamer.
“I genuinely feel Apple TV 4K could be a turning point in demystifying 4K for the everyday consumer,” wrote our head of reviews, Jonathan Bray, in his four-star review. “Apple TV 4K will never replace my Sky Q box simply because it doesn’t have access to the same range of content, but with the release of the 4K model Apple TV it has become a more viable complementary product.”
You’ll need a 4K enables TV to make the most of this streamer’s capabilities, but it will still work absolutely fine if you don’t. “Here’s the Apple TV 4K’s killer feature: when you buy a show from iTunes in HD using Apple TV, or have HD content you’ve previously purchased, Apple will automatically upgrade that show to the highest format for your TV at no extra cost,” wrote Bray.
The streamer also comes with a Siri remote, which means you can use your voice to search for what you want to watch, whether that’s on the likely of Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, or Apple’s own – recently launched – streaming service: Apple TV+. As mentioned, the deal includes a year’s trial, although be aware that this will automatically revert to a paid subscription of £4.99 when the time is up, unless you cancel.
